Yellow Rose - TX20
Blue Star Mothers of America, Yellow Rose - TX20 is a local chapter established in 2024. It was formed by a small group of passionate mothers that wanted to honor their children serving in our military. Our chapter services the North Texas areas of:
-
Frisco to Denton
-
Pilot Point/Celina to Lewisville
and everywhere in between
Yellow Rose - TX20 is focused on furthering the mission of Blue Star Mothers of America by supporting our Armed Forces and Gold Star families, serving our Veterans and honoring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
Yellow Rose - TX20 meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Frisco Public Library at 6:30pm.
HISTORY OF BLUE STAR MOTHERS
On January 22, 1942 the Flint News Advertiser printed a coupon asking Mothers of servicemen to return it to the newspaper. The following February 1st, 300 mothers met in the Durant Hotel, in Flint Michigan. Captain George H. Maines, who had conceived the idea for this group, acted as the Chair of this first meeting. After receiving 1000 responses from the ad, it was decided to form a permanent organization.

On February 6th the organization was reported on Congressional record. Chapters then formed in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon, California, Iowa and Washington. In June of 1960 the organization was officially chartered by Congress.

Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. is now comprised of nearly 200 Chapters and 6,000 Members nationwide.
OUR MISSION
Honor

Serve
We strive to HONOR our Fallen Heroes and their Gold Star families with the presentation of Blue to Gold when requested, participating in flag and wreath placement and providing emotional support to those families.
We SUPPORT our Service Members at home and abroad with care packages filled with comforts from home, letters of encouragement and well wishes.
We SERVE our Veterans and partner with Veteran organizations. You will find us supporting the VA Hospital and patriotic focused activities; their service must never be forgotten.

After 20+ years in the Hotel Industry, I shifted my focus to Military-support organizations in 2021. My only son, Cooper, had just enlisted in the Navy as a Submariner. As he left for Bootcamp, my whole heart went with him. I eagerly began researching opportunities to serve him and his fellow Sailors. I now proudly volunteer for Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. and the USO. Whether I’m sending care packages to Active-Duty Service Members or welcoming a new Recruit at Dallas MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station), I do it in honor of my son and all of our brave American Heroes. I reside in Frisco with my husband, Frank, and our two pups, Abby and Leopold.

I have three wonderful adult children and one amazing granddaughter. My son Garrett has proudly served the USMC since 2017. I love volunteering in various ways; BSM is one of my favorites as it allows me to help our wonderful past, present, and future military members. When I’m not wrangling littles or volunteering, you will find me somewhere with a book in hand.

Serving others is truly my greatest reward. When our oldest son made plans to join the Navy, I felt compelled to find ways to support him on his journey. It was then that I discovered Blue Star Mothers of America (BSMA). Joining BSMA in 2021 was an honor, and it has been incredibly fulfilling to serve those who have served or are currently serving our country. When I’m not dedicated to BSMA, you can find me cheering on our youngest son, working, leading and teaching in children’s ministry, or diligently tackling my schoolwork. I thrive in the midst of what may seem like organized chaos, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

When my son, Spencer, joined the Air Crew of the Marines, I knew it was time to find an organization that supports our military on so many levels. Blue Star Mothers TX20 fits the bill. I live in Allen with my husband Bryan and children Austin, Garrett, and Allison. We are a Scouting family and also spend a lot of time with my daughter’s competitive dance team. I enjoy baking, sewing, painting, and gardening when time allows.

Volunteering is my thing! I love to support organizations that are near and dear to me. Volunteering for BSM Yellow Rose is my way of staying connected to my son, Alex who is serving our country in the USMC as a Machine Gunner. I live in Lucas with my husband, Bill, and our younger son, Nicholas. When we aren’t at home, you will find us at the lake or on the water fishing.
